In a setback to Kadapa MP Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, almost all the Congress MLAs who were supporting him have retracted their resignations from the Assembly and decided to work with the Kiran Kumar Reddy government because they feel there are no chances of mid-term polls any time soon as they had expected.
The new development could begin the marginalisation of Jagan Mohan Reddy as a political force, at least in coastal AP and Rayalaseema regions, and enhance the credibility of the TD as the principal and most formidable Oppo-sition in the region.
Immediately after coming to know about the change of heart of the MLAs, the TD, which has been accu-sed by the Jagan camp of having a nexus with the Congress, rushed to anno-unce that it will move a No-Confidence Motion in the ensuing Assembly session against the Kiran Kumar Reddy Cabinet.
Since the pro-Jagan MLAs have assured that they will vote against the motion, it will be the turn of the TD to taunt Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy with having a nexus with the Congress.
Jagan Mohan Reddy is also fighting several graft cases and the desertion of the MLAs has only served to isolate him further and consolidate state politics into the Congress vs TD camps, putting an end to the perception that it could be a triangular contest.
On Friday, Jagan Mohan Reddy’s confidant C. Adinarayana Reddy, MLA, told newsmen that the MLAs will support the government and prevent it from falling. Adinarayana Reddy and the pro-Jagan MLAs had just met N. Manohar and requested him not to accept the resignations they had handed in earlier.
“We expected that the government will fall with our resignations, but it did not happen. It appears that the government will continue till the 2014 elections,” Reddy said, but added that they will all support Jagan Mohan Reddy 'if he faces any trouble'.
