Sanjaysahu - Canada Visa Experince :
I am very much thankful to my friends who shared their experience and guided me throughout the journey. In addition, I am thankful to Murthy forum for providing such a platform where everyone can share his/her own professional experiences. In the same way I am thankful to UNVA students group on Facebook where we can share our experiences and guide each other.

Note: On the online forums, you will see most of the people who received 221g because people who were approved visa there are less chances that they will post their experience, so please do not panic after reading the online forums that there are lots of 221g or so. The key to success is to have all the documents and be confident, if you have all the documents need not to worry at all, as all the questions are related to our documents and job only, nothing is out of the box.
We are two friends who scheduled our interviews at U.S consulate in Toronto on Nov 28 and Dec 5. Our personal experience we did not see anyone who received 221g on those two particular dates and time. We both were interviewed by Asian Visa officers.

At Toronto U.S consulate:

There are couples of paid car parking spaces available at a walk able distance from the consulate. In addition, there is Starbucks and Tim Horton’s on either side of the Consulate to have some refreshment.

Case I. I am in EVC model. (Graduated from UNVA in Dec 2011, Part-time CPT for 3 months)

Interview was on Nov 28, 2012 at 8.30 AM (first batch) booked the visa interview date 20 days in advance and submitted DS-160 five days before the scheduled date.
Reached the consulate at 7.50 and I was the first person in the queue. An officer will come ask to show the passport and the original Visa appointment page. Later on, one by one everyone will be asked to enter the consulate where the security officer will scan the documents and will provide a small locker area to keep cellphones, headphones and other electronic accessories.

Once done with the security check, an applicant will be asked to proceed through a glass door, after crossing the glass door an officer will place a small white sticker on the passport, which will have the name of the applicant and other details. After this, there will be an officer who will ask for the passport, I797 approval notice and DS-160 confirmation page, and will keep them in a blue folder and will ask to go to the next room, which will be on the left.

After entering the room, everyone is supposed to stand in a queue as directed by the officer; there are lots of windows in that room, chairs to sit and a TV which will display the token number and news side by side. When asked on window 1 or 2 an applicant needs to submit the blue folder which contains passport, i797 approval notice and DS-160 confirmation page, the officer on those windows will verify the PIMS information and make a note on the DS-160 confirmation page whether PIMS ok or not. Also, the officer may put a visa cancel stamp on your previous visa if it is expired and will confirm with the applicant before putting a stamp.

After submitting the blue folder, a token number will be assigned and will be asked to sit. Window 9 and 10 are for finger printing. When the token number is called and displayed on the TV e.g. V0001 proceed to the respective window for finger printing and again will be asked to sit. Windows 5, 6, 7 and 8 are the one where the Visa interview will be conducted.

Around 8.40 AM, it was my turn for the interview.

Interviewee: Good Morning Gentlemen.

Interviewee: Yes, I graduated in Dec 2011 from University of Northern Virginia.

Interviewee: thank you.

Passport information was updated online and called Loomis location on Monday morning and they asked to pick up the passport.

Note: Loomis will take time to send an email for notification, so as soon as you see online updated information call Loomis regarding the passport availability.

Case II. It’s an EC model. Graduated from UNVA in May 2010. As soon as they reply to the questionaire via email or phone, the case will be processed and maximum time taken till now upto my knowledge is 2 to 4 weeks. Also, it is asked sometime to the client how soon do you need this candidate to be back and if the client replies that we need him back and there is work pending, this helps to process the case much faster. One thing is sure, once 221 (g) is issued then everything depends on the client and employers response.

I wouldn't say it was a easy interview, coz he covered almost all possible questions for my case. I will put down my experience which might help people quiet a bit.

Location: Vancouver

It was a rainy day and cold outside. People who have plans to attend Visa in Vancouver be prepared for rains, carry an Umbrella and a winter Jacket on coz you stand outside for about 30mins - 1hr. No prob, you dont have to trash it, You can carry your umbrella upstairs with you to the Visa counter.

Fingerprint done and I was directed to counter 2. A guy with shaved head, spectacles and a bow tie was the VO

VO: Hi
Me: Good Morning, how r ya?
VO: Fine
Me: Handed over my 1797 and Passport with the token number I was given.
VO: How long have you been with you employer?
Me: X years
VO: Noted that on a piece of paper. Are you working at a client?
Me: Yes, X client
VO: Noted it on a paper. Where did you graduate from.
Me: x university
VO: What major
Me: CS Major
VO: Noted. When did you graduate.
Me : 2008 August.
VO : Noted and started typing. And he pulled my 797 and started to compare it will all the things he noted down on paper.
Me: Staring him with my mouth open.
VO: You have graduated in 2008 Aug and your H1 started in 2012 Oct !!! How long was your OPT??
ME: 29months.
VO: Wait, I am confused here (and was scratching his head. He literally did it.).
Me: I pick up and said, And before my OPT expired, I have attended X school for additional courses that can help my job and worked on CPT when I was taking courses in school.
VO: How long was the CPT?
ME : Do you mean how many months or hours?( I did not understand the question). It was for about 6- 8 months and 20hrs a week and my employer filed me H1 in April 2012.
VO: Okay, what school is it?
Me: X school.
VO: Again started looking at my 797... How long have you been with this client (Coz I have changed my client after H1 has started in Oct)
Me: 4Months.
VO: How long with previous client and who is it?
Me: 1 Yr and Y client
VO: Can you show me your LCA?
Me: Sure...
VO: Can you gimme your 2012 W2 and recent Paystubs
ME: Sure...
VO: Why is your pay less than the amount in the LCA.
Me: sorry, I have another W2 too ( I had two since I changed jobs). But still it is less than my pay on LCA, coz I became a fulltime employee recently in October when my H1 started.
VO: Okay. Can I see your file to see what you brought in today?
Me: Sure. I handed over my entire file of documents to him.
VO: He went through all the compartments of my file taking a glance at 6-7 compartments but spend some time going through the 2nd compartment which has my client letter.
Me: Staring again.
VO: started typing and asked what is the school name?
Me: X school
VO: Your visa is approved, collect it with loomis and you can track it here.
Me: Thank you. Have a nice day.

It was longer than other's interviews. He did ask everything he could. I kept the answers brief and straightforward. Coz dont try to convince him!!! Give him answers what he is asking for.
The only trick is, give your answers confidently and understandable. Everything will be fine.

Look at link below which provides H1B and Green Card statistics for US employers along with salary stastistics.
You can clearly see the trend emerging on disconnect between H1B and Green Card applications.

Visa Approved Passport Not Delivered Yet - Has Anyone Faced This Issue

Hi guys, my friend got visa approved two weeks back along with me but his passport did not get delivered yet.

In visa status check online site, status is being showed as ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING while for rest of us it has changed to Issued in only two days.

we called the jamaican US consulate customer support and also emailed them, they replied that it might take few days to several weeks.

we went to embassy in Jamaica but they are telling to wait.

Please let me know if anyone has faced similar issue

Please advise how to proceed.
