kakatiya
Man, I want to ask your thoughts and support as no road transport official is considering this seriously.. In the last 3 weeks it self there are 4 similar accidents. http://www.eenadu.net/homeinner.aspx?category=home&item=break31 In India we don't have system called rest areas. Rest areas are the places where the truck drivers take pit stops or a nap.. in countries like USA there will be one for every 30 miles. If there are no rest areas you might find pilot truck stops. In 90% of accidents I observed, either lorry or the family car is stopped next to the road for drinking tea or urinals etc. The vehicle or truck or car whatever following behind, assuming they are following a moving vehicle will crash in to parked vehicle from behind. Recently 4 people from Karnataka died in narsaraopeta after they crashed in to a truck that stopped for tea break..the driver from the victims car must be too tired to identify the vehicle. In Hyderabad a car stopped next to highway asking for directions from a biker. Truck crashed in from behind killing both biker and family members. 1.there are no left hand shoulder in India for emergency stop 2. No rest area 3.air bags is not compulsory for car manufacturers. 4. Drivers drive more then 15 hours in single day which is not permitted in any other country. http://epaper.eenadu.net/index.php?rt=image/index/img/20180625a_001135017.jpg

kakatiya
It was in February that Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari told Parliament that 130,000 people die in 500,000 mishaps on Indian roads. In 2015, a World Health Organization (WHO)study said India did not meet international standards of road safety, the areas of vulnerability being over-speeding, not using helmets, not using or misusing seat-belts (mandatory for the last 28 years) and the lack of child restraints. The study rated India’s enforcements in these critical areas as 4/10.
