Man, I want to ask your thoughts and support as no road transport official is considering this seriously..

In the last 3 weeks it self there are 4 similar accidents.

http://www.eenadu.net/homeinner.aspx?category=home&item=break31

In India we don't have system called rest areas. Rest areas are the places where the truck drivers take pit stops or a nap.. in countries like USA there will be one for every 30 miles. If there are no rest areas you might find pilot truck stops.

In 90% of accidents I observed, either lorry or the family car is stopped next to the road for drinking tea or urinals etc. The vehicle or truck or car whatever following behind,  assuming they are following a moving vehicle will crash in to parked vehicle from behind.

Recently 4 people from Karnataka died in narsaraopeta after they crashed in to a truck that stopped for tea break..the driver from the victims car must be too tired to identify the vehicle.

In Hyderabad a car stopped next to  highway asking for directions from a biker. Truck crashed in from behind killing both biker and family members.

1.there are no left hand shoulder in India for emergency stop

2. No rest area

3.air bags is not compulsory for car manufacturers.

4. Drivers drive more then 15 hours in single day which is not permitted in any other country.

Road design meeda depend ayi untundi kada baa

india lo roads ki footpath/curb ki distance pettaru.... shoulder concept e undadu.... ala emergency stops kosam janalu park half on road half on pseudo shoulders.....

Speed ga velley vehicles have Right of way .... its the problem with drivers who stop on road side...

forget about the highways , u should see how bikers drive in the city , they drive as if the're on some death wish @3$% ....

in all seriousness , road safety should be thought as a subject in the schools

india ki vunna major problem entante laws untaayi - law enforcements undavu dat is the major drawback as per my understanding. road meeda reckless drive chese vaallaki speeding chese vaallaki oka 10k fine veyyali - before that the cops should have cameras watching the person do it in action - then press charges oka 2 offenses taruvaatha vehicle seize - debbaki andaroo silent avthaaru - democracy bocchu boshaanam ani evadishtamocchinattu vaallu drive chestunnaru india lo..
