Just buy any regular cordless phone and get the power adaptor in India with the input power specification- usually 7.5V or 9V or 12V as per you cordless phone input which you can find on the phone base. No need for converter, you just need Indian power adaptor with the pin that is similar to the existing one. It worked for me - for Panssonic ones.

110V, 220V are on the front end. As Critic ID said take phone from here and find a Power cable in India which fits the Socket on the base and matches the DC Voltage spec. DC Voltage Spec base meeda untundi where you plug your power source. No need of any Step Down Transformation.
