India travel , trip plan with family help

i am visiting india and have a 2 week trip plan of south india with family 

total family is around 15 people so far 

some are suggesting hiring a guide and travel agent trying to arrange for travel 

But i was thinking about renting a MINI van and drive around starting from Hyderabad covering east coast to west coast and returning back 

How is driving Mini van india i am little skeptical about drivers as how safe they will be 

secondly travel in trains and hiring bus im places to visit 

ease suggest

Rainy season now a days....y driving ...it might be risky or troublesome.

not a good plan of driving on indian roads for long trips..if i were you i wouldn't do that...jmo
