Jurala hydel power units switched on to generate 300 MW of power

With sufficient water, all hydel units at the Jurala project were switched on to generate 300 MW of power. Jurala is receiving over 1.85 lakh cusecs, taking the current storage to 9 tmc ft as against full capacity of 9.66 tmc ft.The project was letting out 1.92 lakh cusecs, which will make its way to Srisailam.

The Srisailam dam saw a rise in inflows to 2,07,412 cusecs, and the dam received 25 tmc ft in 24 hours till Sunday evening. Srisailam now has 63 tmc ft against 38 tmc ft a day before, against the full capacity of 215.8 tmc ct. Water stands at 840 feet as against full reservoir level (FRL) of 885 feet.

 

 

Mr D. Prabhakara Rao, chairman and managing director, TS Genco, said: “The Jurala project has six units each under the upper and lower phases. We have commissioned all the units and the state is getting 300 MW. We are waiting for the water level at Srisailam to reach the required mark so that hydel generation could begin there.” 

The Nettampadu, Bhima and Koilsagar projects were receiving huge inflows, bringing cheers to farmers on about 4.5 lakh acres in Mahbubnagar district.

If Karnataka closes the gates of projects owing to drop in inflows, the water storage in Krishna between Almatti and Srisailam is expected to be 75 tmc ft and about 30 tmc ft from Tungabhadra to Srisailam, said experts.

Outflows from Almatti were at 1,63,478 cusecs and Narayanapur at 1,41,720 cusecs. The Tungabhadra project has 94.68 tmc ft (full capacity 100.86 tmc ft). Water stood at 1,631.37 feet against the full reservoir level of 1,633 feet.

Nagarjunasagar did not receive any inflows, and the reservoir has 133.37 tmc ft against its total capacity of 312 tmc ft of water.

Rains late ayinayi isari kani...ipudu baaga andukunnai...baaga padtundi rain...more or less delay valla first crop eviti atte but thank his, second crop ki aina vuntayi water...at least it would create stock depletion and has better market rates for the crops...
