manam only airport choosthunam kaani airport gmr vallu oka sez pettaru airport ki aanukuni akkadiki companies baga osthunay

This airport now has top class MRO...in the days to come, this will serve as top class maintenance, repair and overhaul center for aircrafts in India. A lucrative business. Right now has 3 hangers and order book pretty much booked for an year, this is also being expanded to 5 hangers and full fledged MRO for Airbus A32x series...the most popular one in india.

Next one is the cargo business. Full fledged cargo storage and cold storage containers develop chesinaru....

with this, It could be another Nashville or Anchorage airport for cargo.

This was old news but Cargo is also gaining big time and Hyderabad is optimally located within an over night travel to all major cities in the south/central including upcomig Amaravathi 😜

Hyderabad airport aims at being India's first cargo hub

Hyderabad airport aims at being India's first cargo hub
Hyderabad: With Thai Airways commencing its Bangkok-Hyderabad-Frankfurt cargo freighter service, Lufthansa already operating four freighter services a week and others expressing keenness to connect, Hyderabad airport is aiming to become India's first cargo hub.

A Thai Airways Boeing 747-400F landed at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Thursday and later left for Frankfurt.

The service connects the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport directly with Fareast and European countries and adds to Thai Airways' four weekly A330 operations. Thai Airways officials said they would soon announce their further plans for Hyderabad.

With its central location, world class infrastructure, free trade and special economic zone, huge presence of pharma sector, Hyderabad is ideally suited to be a cargo hub.
GMR Hyderabad Airport International (GHIAL), which runs the airport, is in talks with airlines and industry to develop the hub, said its chief executive officer Vikram Jaisinghani.

"The areas around Hyderabad and cities like Visakhapatnam, Nagpur and Pune all can be best served by Hyderabad," he said, pointing out that major airports like Mumbai cannot expand further.
During 2011-12, Hyderabad airport handled 82,000 tonnes of cargo, a growth of 15 per cent against the national average of 11.2 per cent. GHIAL expects 8 to 10 per cent growth this year.

Presently pharma accounts for 70 per cent of exports. The other major sector is defence equipment. GHIAL officials said this could all change as they are working on cargo hub strategy to cater to several Indian cities.

Lufthansa is already operating four freighter services on Mumbai-Hyderabad-Sharja-Frankfurt route. "More major freight operators will come to Hyderabad soon," said DP Hemanth, Chief operating officer, hub development, cargo, free trade zone, GHIAL.

The cargo apron is expected to be ready by October this year and the work will begin soon. The apron, being developed at a cost of $4 million, will be equipped to handle all wide bodied aircrafts.

Hyderabad's cargo terminal is India's first modular integrated cargo facility spread over 14330 square metres with a capacity to handle 150,000 MT annually. This terminal also has India's only dedicated pharmaceutical handling zone.

The pharma zone offers a temperature controlled environment for handling temperature sensitive pharma products to maintain the cold chain during the shipment process from shippers factory to end users.

The airport operator is also working on Road Feeder Services (RFS) which allows safe, secure and reliable transportation of shipments to key cities in India via road.

RGIA also engaged in discussions with global trunk route freighter airlines to route their network via Hyderabad.

A good read on the future plans.

How the Hyderabad international airport is spreading its wings - Business Line

Flight to the future This is how the airport city hopes to link facilities for its local and global users (futuristic plan)

Highlighting the development plans to, SGK Kishore, CEO, GMR Hyderabad International Airport Ltd, says, “The current expansion will see creation of additional capacity across terminal, airside and landside facilities at the airport and will result in more than doubling the capacity in phases.”

The Hyderabad airport city is in the process of launching a business park of 1 million sq ft spread over 30 acres. While several elements of the airport city are already functional, across the Business and Logistics Port, which involve investments by GMR and third parties, tenants and investors, the airport will continue to be developed through a mix of self-development and direct third-party investment as well as built-to-suit developments for specific clients.

The airport aims to be the Logistics Hub of India and South Asia. It is connected on two sides with the National Highways and state Highway and the city through the Outer Ring Road and the PVNR Expressway. There is also a provision in the Master Plan to bring rail connectivity as well as rail siding for movement of goods. This makes it ideal to serve as a Dry Port as well. “The State Government move to extend the Metro Rail connectivity to Hyderabad airport will bring a lot of benefits to our passengers and to other airport users. We are in touch with the Government and metro rail authorities and have assured all possible support from our end for the project,” asserts Kishore.

The airport’s contribution to the economy has been estimated to be more than ₹7,500 crore and it is believed to have created more than 8,50,000 jobs over the years, according to GM Rao, citing the National Council for Applied Economic Research.

As the infrastructure and the economy around the airport grow, benefiting local and global users, it is only a matter of time before the Hyderabad international airport becomes, veritably, an ‘aerotropolis’.
