Most of them are failure stories. In my next village, there was this మంత్రగాడు. Some people from Guntur/Ongole area used to visit him, then going on some night trips. I don't think they had found any gupta nidhulu. My uncle used to do that crap, too; he used to take along with him some live chickens for bali. He never found any gupta nidhulu. Then, my uncle's dad was some mini మంత్రగాడు. Anyway, the house he was living in had some hidden treasure left by some vysya lady 150 years ago. This uncle used to get out at mid night and sleep walked towards శ్మశానం. No success for him in finding hidden treasures.

In my village, as a kid, I witnessed a scam. Some stranger visited our village, convinced a vysya family that he was a మంత్రగాడు. Further that he could see things in all dimensions with అంజనo పసురు (some liquid). He was just holding some oil like caster oil on his palm and describing what he saw. We walked along with him towards some remote part of our village. He asked us to see through that oil; and we didn't see whatever he described.  Later I realized that's how people get scammed.

Usually, people target remote temples in forests, decadent temples for gupta nidhulu. It is just like looting mummies in Egypt, and other statues in Greece, Rome, Turkey, Syria.  Just 'loot' whatever is valuable. That's how many Western museums are filled up with.

Maybe, some coins have been found around Hampi and other areas.

తర్లుపాడు: గుప్తనిధుల వేట నరకప్రాయంగా మారింది. ప్రాణాలు దక్కుతాయన్న ఆశ ఆవిరవుతూ వచ్చింది. ఆఖరికి మూత్రాన్ని తాగుతూ ఎడతెగని నడకతో బయటపడ్డానని ప్రత్యక్ష సాక్షి వెల్లడించారు. గుంటూరు జిల్లాకు చెందిన హనుమంత్‌ నాయక్‌, కృష్ణ నాయక్‌తోపాటు హైదరాబాద్‌కు చెందిన శివకుమార్‌లు గత ఆదివారం ప్రకాశం జిల్లాలోని వెలుగొండ అటవీప్రాంతంలో గుప్తనిధుల వేటకు వెళ్లారు. అందులో శివకుమార్‌, హనుమంత్‌ నాయక్‌ మృత్యువాతపడిన సంగతి తెలిసిందే. ప్రాణాలతో బయటపడిన కృష్ణనాయక్‌ శనివారం ‘న్యూస్‌టుడే’తో తాను ఎదుర్కొన్న అనుభవాలను పూసగుచ్చినట్లు వివరించారు.

‘రుద్రాక్షల కోసం వెళ్తున్నామంటూ తనను బాబాయి హనుమంత్‌ నాయక్‌, బ్యాంకు ఉద్యోగి శివకుమార్‌లు నన్ను మభ్యపెట్టారు. గత ఆదివారం అటవీ ప్రాంతానికి బయలుదేరాం. దారి మధ్యలో వారు గుప్తనిధుల కోసం ఆరాతీస్తుండడంతో అసలు విషయం తెలిసింది. కెమెరాతో పురాతన విగ్రహాలు, కట్టడాలు ఉండే ప్రాంతాల ఫొటోలు తీసుకుని గుప్త నిధులుండే ప్రదేశాన్ని కచ్చితంగా గుర్తించేందుకు ప్రణాళిక రూపొందించాం. దారిలో స్వామీజీలతో నిర్ధరించుకున్నాక వెనుదిరుగుదామని భావించాం. కేవలం 15 మజ్జిగ ప్యాకెట్లు, ఒక నీళ్ల సీసా మాత్రమే మా వెంట ఉన్నాయి. వెలుగొండ అటవీ ప్రాంతంలో పెద్ద లోయలు దాటుకుంటూ చాలాదూరం వెళ్లాం. తీవ్ర దాహంతో వెంట తీసుళ్లిన మజ్జిగ, నీళ్లు అయిపోయాయి. అప్పటికే మిట్ట మధ్యాహ్నం కావడంతో గొంతు ఎండిపోయి నీరసం ఆవహించింది. అడుగు తీసి అడుగు వేయడం గగనమైంది. వెనుదిరిగి వెళ్లిపోదామని నిర్ణయించుకున్నాం. ముగ్గురం తిరుగు ప్రయాణమయ్యాం. తీక్షణ ఎండ కారణంగా జనావాస ప్రాంతానికి చేరడం కష్టమని, కనీసం ఒక్కరైనా చేరుకోగలిగితే మిగిలిన ఇద్దరిని రక్షించే వీలుంటుందని బాబాయి హనుమంత్‌ నాయక్‌ నన్ను తొందరగా వెళ్లమన్నాడు. నేను వేగంగా నడిచా.. శివకుమార్‌, హనుమంత్‌ నాయక్‌లు వెనకబడిపోయారు. గొంతెండిపోతుండడంతో గత్యంతరం లేక ఆదివారం సాయంత్రం ఒకమారు నా మూత్రాన్నే మంచినీళ్ల మాదిరిగా తాగా. అటవీప్రాంతంలోనే నిద్రించి సోమవారం తెల్లవారుజామున మళ్లీ నడక ప్రారంభించా. దారిలో నాలుగుసార్లు మూత్రం తాగుతూనే ముందుకు అడుగులేశా. మధ్యాహ్నం అటవీప్రాంతానికి ఆనుకుని రోడ్డు పక్కనే స్పృహ తప్పి పడిపోయా. అక్కడే ఉన్న వేంకటేశ్వరస్వామి ఆలయ పూజారి వచ్చి ముఖంపై నీళ్లు చల్లి కొంత ప్రసాదం ఇవ్వడంతో ప్రాణాలు దక్కాయి’ అని పోలీసు కస్టడీలో ఉన్న కృష్ణనాయక్‌ చెప్పారు.

don't u think they died because they didn't carry enough water? Bank clerk is not a day laborer like the survivor. The other dead person is 20 years older than the survivor.
