A North Texas rapper was found guilty of murder and aggravated robbery by a Tarrant County jury on Friday.

Tay-K, whose given name is Taymore McIntyre, was part of a home invasion robbery in Mansfield that resulted in the death of a 21-year-old man and left another man injured in July 2016. Tay-K, 19, pleaded guilty at the start of the trial to two counts of aggravated robbery for other people who were also in the home.

Tay-K faces five to 99 years in prison for each charge he has been convicted of at trial.

Tay-K’s lawyers unsuccessfully argued that Tay-K didn’t know Ethan Walker would be killed by an accomplice, Latharian Merritt. Prosecutors said Tay-K knew what he was getting into and witnesses testified he had asked Merritt to be involved in the crime.

Tay-K still faces another aggravated robbery charge in Tarrant County and a capital murder charge in Bexar County. Both happened after Tay-K cut off his ankle monitor given to him after being arrested for the Mansfield murder.

Tay-K is accused of robbing and killing a man at a San Antonio Chick-fil-A in April 2017 and robbing a 65-year-old man in Arlington in May 2017. Those two crimes triggered a nationwide manhunt, which resulted in Tay-K’s capture in June 2017.

A song Tay-K recorded, “The Race,” was posted on YouTube while he was on the run from authorities. It made the Billboard Hot 100 following his June 2017 arrest in New Jersey.

He also created a mixtape, Santana World, while incarcerated. It was released by a record company, making more than a half-million dollars according to a report. The family of Walker and a survivor of the home invasion have sued the record label, seeking all profits from the mixtape.

Tay-K Associate PimpyZ Sentenced to 30 Years In Prison for Robbery/Murder Case

PimpyZ is now facing 30 years behind bars.

Eighteen-year-old rapper Tay-K‘s final co-defendant PimpyZ, accepted a plea deal on Friday and was sentenced to 30 years in prison.

According to a report in Star-Telegram, the 19-year-old PimpyZ, born Jalen Bell, pleaded guilty to two counts of aggravated robbery in relation to the 2016 robbery/murder that resulted in the injury of Zachary Beloate and the death of 21-year-old Ethan Walker.

Bell was accused of being an accomplice to the then-16-year-old Tay-K, née Taymor Travon McIntyre.

Bell was reportedly offered a lesser sentence for information on Tay-K, which he ultimately refused.

Bell and Tay-K are two of the among five others who have been charged in Walker’s murder. Latharian Merritt, who authorities believed fired the gun that killed Walker, was found guilty of capital murder by a jury in May and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Tay-K famously went on the run while on house arrest for the crimes and released his viral track, “The Race” in 2017. He is still set to stand trial for the murder.

The rapper is still facing a capital murder charge for a San Antonia, Texas shooting and is now the only person left still facing trial.

He is also facing multiple lawsuits from the victims’ families.
