@Somedude you also don’t tell if you don’t have ability to take. If your Congress was ruling ...do you think scenario would have been different? India itself is the problem - congress, bjp are just symptoms. Loosen India - give freedom to states. That area will rocket.

Nehru, Indira and Rajiv acted what’s best during their times. In the retrospective there will be good and bad things, don’t be blinded by fake nationalism that extreme Right wingers are preaching. 

modern temples of India(all the major irrigation projects in India including nagarjuna sagar ), IITs are kick started by nehru. If not for irrigation projects half the population would have died of hunger 

Nationalizing the banks was a saving grace back then and now done by Indira

Rajiv paved the way for the IT revolution in India, he was the thinktank for Hitech proposal and similarly in other cities. PV took one step further

really?  you dont have to be fan of right wing for asking... how would you know the cost of what a generations of Indians lost. just  be happy with biscuits...

the entire time when china took over was lost..  so congress under gandhi realized that late?  now I am stating facts. If the reforms were done long back with congress being absolute majority. india would have had multifold development

Do you effing realize the situation of India in 1950? Skill level of our people was that they could do zilch. 

When British left India, the Union government's treasury reported annual revenue of £334 million in 1950. In contrast, Nizam was widely reported to have a fortune of almost £668 million then. So poor was our nation with 90-95% under below poverty line, pakistan and south korea didn’t start with as poor as India was. It is the years of progress where we are at, granted things could have been better in between(those are growing pains) but it is what it is..it is not totally congress fault as you are making it up to be.

late 1970 to mid 1990 were weak political coalitions and domestic issues of naxalism, kalistan movement, multiile wars, hindu-muslim tensions, poverty took away focus of all  political parties

The greatest achievement of India is not just how much progress we have made but should also be counted as we held up during those trying times and still made it. Just one mistake would have broken India apart - punjab moverment, bangla war, naxalism, kashmir issue, military taking over like pakis. India is a heterogeneous country with a lot complexities unlike one dimensional nations that you mentioned
