A South Australian public servant has been sacked after urinating in an office kettle.

The Department of Human Services employee was fired several months ago after a long-running investigation, the department confirmed on Wednesday.

Delivery man caught urinating in a pot plant

As first reported by InDaily, a number of staff members have sought counselling and claim they have suffered post-traumatic stress from the incident, which occurred on March 12 last year.

Fellow workers had feared there was more than just pee in their tea, but that wasn't the case.

"The investigation found that urine was present in a workplace kettle. No blood was found," a department spokeswoman told AAP.

"The thorough investigation found that a particular individual was at fault and this employee has since been terminated from the department."
