COVID-19 cases increase to 343 in Uttar Pradesh

Eleven people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Uttar Pradesh, taking the total number of COVID-19 cases in the state to 343 on Wednesday, officials were quoted as saying by PTI.
 
Three COVID-19 patients have died in the state, one each in Meerut, Basti and Varanasi districts. Out of the total 343 cases, 187 COVID-19 patients are linked to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation, Principal Secretary in the health department Amit Mohan Prasad said.

Tamil Nadu reports 48 new cases taking state's count to 738

Tamil Nadu health secretary, on Wednesday said that the state has reported 48 new cases within the last 24 hours, taking the total number of confirmed cases in state to 738. The death toll now stands at 8 and the number of people discharged is now at 21 including a 71-year-old man have been discharged after treatment for COVID19 in Tamil Nadu.

65-yr-old dies in Karnataka's Kalburgi

A 65 year old COVID-19 patient passed away in Karnataka's Kalaburagi district, and with this the death toll in the state has risen to five. Karnataka has so far reported 181 confirmed cases, of which 28 people have been cured so far, ANI reported.

49 new cases reported in Telangana, tally rises 453

"49 coronavirus positive cases reported today. Total 453 positive cases and 11 deaths reported in the state, as of now. 45 patients cured/discharged till now. 397 Active cases isolated and being treated. No patient is on ventilator or ICU," Telangana Health Minister Etela Rajender said.

He added, "People who have come from Nizabackn Markaz (in Delhi) and had tested negative are being sent to home quarantine."

Maharashtra health minister rules out community spread

Maharashtra health minister Rajesh Tope has said that the state still doesn't have community transmission. "Places like Dharavi need to follow lockdown strictly. Positive cases are increasing in cities like Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, face masks are being made compulsory in Mumbai for everyone in public places," he said.

Covid-19 tests to be conducted for free in approved govt/private labs, orders SC

The Supreme Court has directed that Covid-19 tests in approved govt labs or private labs be conducted free of cost. SC has asked Centre to issue directions to approved labs for conducting Covid-19 tests free of cost.

9 new Covid-19 cases reported in Kerala, tally at 345

"Nine new Covid-19 positive cases have been reported in the state today. 4 from Kannur, 2 from Alappuzha, 1 each from Thrissur, Pathanamthitta and Kasaragod. Total number of COVID-19 cases stand at 345 of which 259 are active cases," says Kerala CM Pinarayi Vijayan.

Delhi's Sadar Bazaar sealed as cases reported from there: Manish Sisodia

 
Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said that the Sadar area of Delhi has been sealed as a COVID-19 hotspot some cases had been detected there. "Total 20 hotspots have been identified in Delhi, nobody will be allowed to enter or exit from these areas," ANI quotes him as saying.Government will ensure delivery of essential items in areas that have been sealed, he added.
