I dont think that was necessary,, Siri is engaged and Shannu has girl friend. But the way they were behaving, it is not friendship..

Even if the housemates in Big boss feel that they look like the are friends, with all the cameras watching 24/7, the housemates don't see what the audience are seeing when these two are alone. 

What her mom said was correct, it is directed to Shannu to stop hugging her daughter.. It is creepy when he asks her to wear mukku pudaka, asking for hugs when he is emotionally low, etc. He is using her emotions for his needs.
