But doing so will crash the currency and trust on their economy. 

Just saying that domestic debt is not really a big concern , there are other ways to reduce the burden like devaluing the currency.

Yes domestic debt is not a concern for default but is a concern for inflation and economy.

It is also a write off in the sense that you are virtually crashing the value of currency to zero , it would be a extremely stupid decision but it's something that be technically possible

Actually thats how govt finances any deficit by printing money. And yes it crashes money every year - its called inflation - which reduces value of money every year.

The current economic model requires inflation to be at healthy 2-5% to stimualte population to work hard. 

Anything above will create unrest or anything below will create spiralling collapse like japan has been fighting off from the 90's
