i know a friend who has bipolar, not sure of detailed classifications.. nicest guy you can ever meet...cheema kuda haani cheyani personality...

but in one of the episodes..went drunk driving, hurled abuses in public places, got arrested and acted voilently in custody. All in usa. all because he was not regular with his medication for a few days or (may be few weeks dont remember) .

had to leave usa after this episode. hes ok now, married and with kids. with family support and consistent medication ..no issues now..

options are there but weather they are feasible ? ivf is too expensive in USA and insurance won’t cover that may be cause of additional pressure… surrogate is too complicated, stigma and very very costly in USA … since we want to have kids born here we cannot go to india to have these procedures

I once lived with a roommate who had bipolar so I can comment on this. Bipolar has two primary phases -  the positive phase (mania/hypomania depending on the type of bipolar) and, the negative phase (depression). There can be a mixed phase also where people will experience manic and depressive symptoms at the same time. Bipolar type 1 is more severe and is associated with mania which sometimes needs forced hospitalization. Bipolar type 2 is less severe but the depression can last longer. Both types of bipolar are associated with a very high suicide rate if not treated.

The issues your friends may face will obviously depend on type of bipolar, the severity, how well the person adheres to medication, how well the medication works etc., The mania/hypomania (if it does not cross limits) can lead to superhuman performance at work + very creative thinking and, needless to say can have a positive impact on someone's career. The problem when it comes to career is with the depression which can stifle someone's thinking, impact their ability to work in a social setting, lead to fights which is obviously very detrimental for someone's career. Sad as it is, I am not surprised she quit her job.

When it comes to relationships, the mania/hypomania  makes them want to socialize with people more,  do a lot of household etc., Oh also, it makes them want to have more bumchik. Nee yava.. maa roommate almost weekly shoping chesetodu on a student stipend. That reminds me.. the mania/hypomania can lead to indiscretionary spending which can lead to financial issues. The depressive phase can have a severe negative impact on relationships. They become very silent, don't want to talk or do any couple activity. Libido also takes a big hit. Because of these reasons, divorce rates for bipolar patients are very high. Your friends need to talk to a therapist to address any issues arising because of the illness.

Women with bipolar who want to get pregnant will need to talk to their doctors as the medication can have implications for the baby.

Treatment for bipolar involves medication, personal and family therapy. It's a lifelong illness and tends to get worse over age if not managed properly.

Motthaniki summary entante.. bipolar asha mashi kadu.. assam ayipotharu manushulu if not careful.
