Fully support this.. Think yourself...how much of what you consume is rice ? As country progresses, you consume more nuts and fruits .. That's a sign of progress

More and more doctors are saying eat less rice

Idi epudo chepi unte bagundu

Oh..FYI, there are already many schemes and subsidies to grow alternate crops. 2015 lo ne ivanni implement cheyadaniki plan chesinaru and they are all in place. Don't look for all these information on google or news channels. Local agriculture officer or MRO or even banks are willing to provide this information.

Ie crisis vachindi even 2nd and 3rd crop kuda paddy veyadam tho...lot of instrcutions have been sent but with improved conditions, its favpurable for farmers to cultivate paddy.

Incentives and resources, co-operative societies are all in place for a long time. 1st crop paddy and tarvata crop alternate veyali ani 5 years nundi cheputune vunaru, schemes kuda vunayi...sometimes all that you can do is to try to help.

What resources and alternatives? Edhi chebithe adi nammeyadamena? Alternate Crops like Cotton has one of the highest loss rates. In Telangana highest farmer suicides are by Cotton farmers. In fact few years ago Dora himself told farmers to not grow Cotton. Now he is saying grow Cotton as an alternative to Paddy. :S

TG produces a lot of parboiled rice ( because of weather conditions etc). Parboiled rice has the same nutritional value as brown rice.

Elli mandal office la chudu, enni schemes vunayi, enni alternatives vunyao telsutadi..

Dora masthu cheptadu..he is a temp guy. Dora chepindu kada ani edi naduvadu..dora paddy veyodhu ani mundu kuda chepiundu..

This is not how it works.

True. It has always been like that. First crop paddy and tarvata two crops cash crops vesetollu. like oil seeds cotton, pulses, veggies, sun flower, castor oil seeds, etc.

Best example maa vilages side, first crop paddy tarvata sunflower, castor oil seeds, cotton vesetollu...right now, nothing other than paddy.

pakkanodu veyakapotey manam okkalame esukolem kada paddy. pakkana field lo kuda paddy este em cheyali manam ??

Crop loans almost 1 lakh per acre istunaru...instant loans with no paperwork. and most of the times interest on these loans is waived. Some one has 5 acres want investment, banks are giving crop loans.

Poly house, solar farm, water storage, drip irrigation and sprinkler systems, seeds purchase, cold storage, farm equipment, itla anniti mida subsidies and incentives vunayi...they are already in place. Inthakante ekuva incentives iche kante better to pay farmers monthly allowance not to do farming.

well said... problem is guaranteed cash for paddy triumphs all the above.

Brokers , if they are semi-honest should encourage cash crops - they are 100% try to explit with zero value add.

To be honest, Brokers are better at cash crops than paddy. They get to make more money on commercial crops than paddy.

De-incentivize chesthe paddy ni, migita crops will automatically pick up.

Government encourage chesthe kani alternate crops veyamu ani farmers....alternate crops vesthe ne farming lekapothey no farming ani Govt. Itla blame game nadustundi...but the reality, farmers nundi ae ravali ie alternate crops ki push. Market lo produce vunte buyer kuda dorukutadu..anthe kani buyer ni ready ga petti  apudu crop veyali ante why would any buyer want to wait whereas they can pick up the same commodity from other markets ?

If not at micro level, it does effect in some way or the other. Labor supply degaro...machinery availability degaro, market availability etc will make a huge difference.

For example, mee polam lo inkedo crop and chuttu paddy vesinaru anuko...tractor tho plough cheyadam, levelling cheyadam, seedlings, fertiliser and most importantly harvest time lo cut cheyadam daniki kavalsina machinery and crop loading/unloading etc lantivi kalisi chesthe cost work out avutadi...nee chuttu 100 acres lo paddy and 10 acres lo alternate crop vesthe cost will increase and nee 10 acre crop won't make money.
