You pay state tax of 6% on your income, that's a big amount.

If you have 2 expensive cars , say 50k worth that's another 4k per year as personal property tax

yeah but pay kuda diff untadhi kadha.... one of my colleage moved from va to austin.same company..they reduced pay accordingly..which covers state tax.....

also car tax decreases gradually but property tax u r paying will go on increasing...

EOD its upto individual preferrences..

I’m living in Austin, TX for 10 years but I don’t suggest anyone who likes to have fun to settle down in Austin. Austin is literally a boring place. Just to make some money and have a bigger house (these days it’s expensive to get a bigger house), come to Austin. Otherwise have fun in beautiful Virginia.

Agree with above comments, nenuvachi 5 years iyendii, Phoenix lo unnappude enjoy chesa baaga, weekend vegas,LA , ala terigevalla,  ekkadiki vachakaa life rottaa iyendii, outdoor activities untaye kaniyee no life in it , after some time you will get bored , US lo unna ane feel maaza kill ipoyendii ekkadiki vachakaa

Work from home aipoyaka I have to either go to Arlington or Austin office. So, looking for a place beforehand.

ok got it, yeah for activities ante pakka VA bro. Taxes you would not get much difference because of high property taxes in Austin and current high prices of homes. It would have made a difference even a year ago, house that was 300k years back is now selling at 700k. So beware when people say taxes as reason, they might not know current situation.
