A man who served as the officer-in-charge for Richmond police is accused of falsely submitting timesheets for work he knew he did not complete and receiving compensation for those hours, the New Hampshire attorney general’s office announced on Tuesday.

Andrew Wood, 53, of Fitzwilliam, was indicted by the Cheshire County Superior Court grand jury on one felony count of theft by unauthorized taking and one felony count of theft by deception.
[Wood, who has previously worked as police chief of the Hancock Police Department and officer-in-charge at the Richmond of Police Department, committed the alleged offenses between Jan. 5, 2017, and June 27, 2019, investigators said.

Investigators said Wood received more than $1,500 from the town of Richmond by submitting weekly timecards that “contained hours of work not performed.”

Wood knew that he did not perform the work as submitted on the timecards, according to investigators.

Wood is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct
