Dividend Calculator

Sample dividend calculator I created for some stocks ... Check CalculatorMonthlyDiv5yr Sheet.

Inputs -

  • Check Stock Ticker
  • Dividend Reinvest - Shows how your investment looks like if your dividend is reinvested else not.
  • Yearly Investment - IF selected it buys stocks with 12k at beginning of year. Else it spreads $1000k every month evenly and buys 1st of every month.

Output

  • Shows in blue how your investment varies based on inputs selected. Shows results for 5 yrs.

  • The results are underwhelming as most of these stocks are at their 52 week lows ... I need to pick some that have seen price appreciation as well.

If you ever want to sanity‑check the long‑term value of those yearly 12k injections, I’ve plugged the cash flows into https://www.gigacalculator.com/calculators/npv-calculator.php before, and it gave

It depends on the period selected. I see a clear difference in pattern in

Growth Stocks + Consistent div Payers - Like PG, CL

Consistent Div stocks that are lagging behind now - Like PFE, T, VZ, MO which are at their 52 yr lows.

Using 5 yr calculator it shows how PFE, T, VZ and MO could grow money. Still I think overall these div stocks make sense beyond 5 yrs. I am underwhelmed by the value with in 5 yrs.

Somehow yahoo finance is not giving price beyond 5 yrs. Otherwise I was planning to do this for 10 yrs.

In last 5 yrs, SCHD seems to have beat these stocks by a decent margin. I am glad I did this analysis.

OKE

By how much % do you think ur future dividend portfolio will beat SCHD?

IMO if only looking for dividend income the extra amount you might gain may not be worth the time you put in for research. Also individual picks are riskier.

I have PDI, BST, BSTZ, JEPI, JEPQ and bought few dividend stocks when they are at 52 Week lows (PFE, MO).

PDI is pure dividend play. A hefty 16-17% div + 15-20% price appreciation so far in 1.5 yrs. Share price will appreciate when Interest rates go down. Until then dividends are good.

BST, BSTX, JEPQ have all Given 25+% price appreciation so far in 1.5 yrs. Plus 10-12% dividend.

I will have to compare analysis with SCHD in last 1.5 yr. But I am impressed with SCHD. I think blindly we can buy it SIP every week or month for $ cost average.

I added another sheet "DivStockPerformance". IT shows how these stocks performed over years and what your investment looks like in 5 yrs. Select Investment Horizon as input.

I am obsessed with numbers. Its just timepass for me. I do not recommend anyone to buy stocks based on these sheets. Its just information I am sharing ..

I dont use any paid services. I always start with Yahoo Finance. Plenty of information can be found in the Conversations section for a stock. And then a general Google search.

Can someone confirm if you are able to select the stock in SIPCalculatorMonthlyDiv5Yr Sheet? I am not sure if these selections work if I shared the sheet as a viewer.

Thanks uncle, give me 10 top picks please
