Instead of closing the factory, they put forward this SU-57 stealth flight concept to Russian Govt. Russian Govt didn't have money to start this programme. And they enticed India into this project and got the money needed for R&D and some initial production and then kicked India out. (They even got customers for customized version with less stealth features like Iran, N Korea, Algeria, Vietnam, Indonesia..) India didn't learn from earlier losses from Russian Submarines sales. It's not as powerful as an F16 and is not as versatile when armaments are considered but tech transfer is something that India should not have ignored. Indian could have used that to build up its engine and armament customization. What's more, Sweden is a neutral country. Repu panchayati vachina they will not block access to tech. Either you buy this or give some thing similar to reduce trade deficits. If India were to buy F35, it loses it's military sovereignty. I still think SAAB and Sukhois would have been a deadly combination. It's also absurd for India to think of fifth generation aircraft, when they can't get up Tejas in air with an indigenous engine. Pakistan doesn't have enough resources and even in a fight with China, Invasive Chinese Air Force can't completely outmaneuver squadrons of 4th or even 3rd generation+ aircrafts. Quote

India simply does not have the bone to allow private sector to flourish like US. bureacracy will screw up any possibility of innovation AMCA is 10 yrs away from even building prototype, our history with LCA shows AMCA will arrive when whole world is looking for 7th Gen 1.Make peace with China dn survive with Rafales and avoid buying F35, develop AMCA or 2.Buy F35 from US and get into distrust with our neighbor and keep buying from west destroying our future potential for indigenous I would chose 1, India should buy more attack helicopters and transport planes and keep US happy to deal with Moron. 2.
