If they arrest a citizen without any valid reason just based on suspicion they can sue the department which will be a big head ache. I don’t think they will touch citizens, haven’t heard any cases. Even if they approach you based on suspicion, once you tell them that you are a citizen, they will deal cautiously because they know that they can get sued or fired.

MANCHESTER, N.H. —

A New England man who is a U.S. citizen said American border agents in Vermont detained him for several hours Sunday night as he and his wife were trying to return home from Canada.

For no reason," he said. "And even if there was any reason that I don't know about, they didn't even share that reason with me."

Atallah is a U.S. citizen. He said he and his wife were returning home after visiting family for Palm Sunday.

"I was detained. I was not free to leave," he said. "Holding cells. No shoes, no jacket. It was freezing cold."

Atallah, who is a real estate attorney, said the officers wouldn't let him call his sister, who is an immigration attorney. His sister, Celine Atallah, said she didn't get a call until three hours later.

"What happened to my brother is not reasonable," she said. "It's an abuse of power."

Celine Atallah said CBP accessed her brother's email, which contained client information, under duress.

Bachir Atallah said he declined to go to the hospital after experiencing chest pain because he didn't want to start the whole process over again.

New Hampshire immigration attorney Ron Abramson, who isn't affiliated with the case, said Bachir Atallah's experience is disturbing.

Too much of fear mongering these days. If you do not indulge in fraud or did nothing wrong, you don’t have to be worried.

Saying citizens and GC will also be troubled is comedy.

those who indulge in fraud or did wrong, they don’t dare travel.
