Yoga retreats are different.. no one lives there permanently and no one is selling real estate.. US have had these meditation centers and yoga retreats from several decades.. these were there even before rajneesh/Osho.. 

Read about mount Madonna near Bay Area.. this is run by white American Hindus and they have a Hanuman temple also..
