When living in Hyderabad - and working for an audit company - one of my managers was a Shia Muslim - so I have a bit of knowledge emanating from my own personal interest in matters of theology plus his insights into Shias and Iran.

There's even a road in Hyderabad named after Khomeini.

Almost every visit of an Iranian president to India would not be complete without a visit to Hyderabad.

There's a couple of corrections in what you wrote.

While Iran has the highest number of Shias - it is not the only majority Shia country. Iraq, Bahrain and Azerbaijan are Shia majority countries. Because Saddam Hussein was a brutal dictator - the general world population had no idea that Iraq was actually a majority Shia country - which is why after Saddam got killed the power went into the hands of the Shias in Iraq.

Khomeini of course is a very significant figure for Shia Muslims not only in Iran but for observant Shia Muslims outside Iran too - which is why Indian Shia Muslims protest with his or Khameini's pictures.

Khomeini was considered "MARJA" (someone who is fit to be followed) - so many Shia Muslims seek inspiration from him.

The audit firm where I interned was MBR & Co. Outside the "BIG 4" audit firms - among the locally grown audit firms in the then AP - MBR & Co was probably in the top 2 audit firms along with Brahmaih.
