As far I understand, Tatah made it clear that he doesn't want to settle. Regime change is the only thing he wants as well.Even if opened, the strait carries the risk of attacks & mines, which slows down the strait traffic significantly, making it a choke point.

In Afghanistan & Iraq campaigns, boots were on the ground very early in Afghanistan it's in week 2 and in Iraq on day 1.Even if the current administration is paralyzed, and will eventually taken over there will always be rebel factions resetting kamikaze attacks. All this will take years to wind up. Don't expect things to normalize soon.Boots on ground in Iran is suicide for current admin ,iran has an organised military and favourable terrain ,also the main point is they don't have a proper reason for public satisfaction to warrant full scale invasion and sacrificing lives of Americans. Also its seen as israeli war ,although both Israel and America have mutual benefits ,america controlling iran will stretch the influence of anglosphere and Israel will become the most dominant force in middle East without iran .Iran and afghanistan were completely different.

Already 50,000 troops are ready (may be 5& 7th fleet?). A naval contingent with Marines on USS Tripoli is also sent. It's s just matter of time and theatre.I already wrote on this partIm not saying Iran & Afghanistan are same. All I'm trying to imply is that the war isn't going to end sooner.

Pentagon says 50,000 ground troops are ready (may be fifth & seventh fleets?), then a naval contingent USS Tripoli with 31st marines is rerouted from Singapore to Iran. Do you it's all for show?

Trump will keep going till he has his leverage building. But at the same time will be ready for a U turn in case things don't go as planned.Which means that in a case where the war is goign to take far too long, he will quickly U turn and settle. He is not like Obama or Biden who have employee mindset. He is a businessman.

The promised for more surprises.Hope the people of Iran take back their country....but many protestors have already been killed. Wish this war started before the killing.
