Magnesium Deficiency

Featured Replies

I have been trying to fix electrolyte imbalance for last 4 years and atleast finally identified what I am deficient of.

Even though my blood levels show normal for magnesium 1.8, RBC Confirmed I am deficient in magnesium (4.7) and because of this my Potassium RBC levels are low (88) and Magnesium is needed to transport potassium into cells based on my research.

I have been supplementing magnesium 400 Mg per day, but not able to raise levels and Urine test confirmed I am loosing magnesium more than high levels through. Looking for help if anyone faced similar issue and if they were able to fix it.

Thanks.

Try upping natural sources of magnesium (e.g peanuts, pumpkin seeds etc.), rather than using supplement alone as kidneys then keep flushing out excess supplemental mag front he body relative to the dietary one.

Do you drink a lot of coffee? If yes, cut back on caffeine content too. It's diuretic and flushes mag from the body.

Thank you dude for the response. I have coffee once a day, and also I eat clean diet rich in magnesium like you said Pumpkin seeds, Nuts , leafy vegetables and avocados. I used to consume alcohol twice a week , but stopped it since last 4 months.

Doctors weren’t able to help?

No, Since all levels in blood show normal. They blamed it on stress. I was able to figure out using chatgpt by tracking symptoms and doing Cell study and RBC Tests. Next week meeting with primary care physician again to see if its going to change anything.

stop taking supplemental Mg. it loses in urine. only less than 2% may be consumed in that 400 mg pill. rather focus on Mg rich foods and other natural ways. also No coffeine, no alcohol, no smoking, no sugar drinks, protein, nuts, vegetables in balanced way. it take min. 6 months to see results. don't rush to conclusion.

Just curious what kind of supplement you are taking? can you post it here? Can you share some research papers that helped to get to that conclusion. Thank you

I was in similar situation. I cut down the coffee, did strict keto diet(no carbs, no sugar, only red meat, chicken, fish, egg, any green vegetables like brocolli, asparagus, spinach) and started taking Magnesium Glycinate, it helped me. Take eye drops regulary, I use Retaine MGD Lubricant Eye Drops.

Make Sure your body have exposure to sun light.

If the symptoms are worse, I recommend Ferritin test which test Iron levels.
