- Telugu is the second most spoken language in India

-The state ranks first nationwide in hydro electricity generation with national market share of over 11%.

-Andhra Pradesh's gross state domestic product for 2009 was estimated at $62 billion in current prices.

-The state ranks fourth in terms of overall gross state domestic product and fourth in per capita gross state domestic product among the major states of India.

-Andhra Pradesh is a mineral rich state, ranking second in India in terms of mineral wealth. The state has about one third of India's limestone reserves, estimated at about 30 billion tonnes.

What is going to happen if the State Breaks?

-Water Wars:

We already have water wars with Maharashtra, Karnataka and Tamilnadu.

With the division of the state we will seewater fights between telangana, costal, and Rayalaseema districts.

-Cost of Rebuilding:

Billions of dollars will be needed to rebuild infrastructure for new states.

Imagine what can be done with the same billions if we stay united??

-Lost Identity :

As the Legendary NTR said the dignity and respect of telugu people will be sacrificed on the streets of New Delhi.

-Security and Naxal Problem:

Everything done to keep a check to the anti social elements (Pakistani ISI  and Naxal’s) will be undone.

-Investments in the new states:

Billions of dollars spent in Andhra Pradesh with loans from the World Bank would be wasted since no company or investors would be ready to invest in the two smaller states with unpredictable situations in the near future. It would take years to regain the confidence.

-Telugus struggle for a separate land from Madras

-Our fore fathers did everything to unite the telugu people and establish a statehood for us.Lets not waste their sacrifices.

The telugu’s struggle for a separate state then (1950’s) was for a reason, but today’s agitation is based on the will of one single political party (with <10% votes in elections held 6 months ago).

-Welfare of Common Man

All the special laws, welfare programs for BC, SC, ST’s welfare will have to be stopped and have to be redone because of administrative and budgetary concerns.

-Loans/Debt

A bigger state implies more revenues ...we already sit on a pile of more than 100,000 crore rupees of debt. Even if this debt is split between the two states it would be difficult for the new state’s to pay only the interest every month (because of reduced revenue and cost of rebuilding). Leave the point of repaying the debt.

-Lobbying

A combined strength of 42 MP’s from Andhra Pradesh will have more voice at the center in lobbying for the state compared to the 15-20 MP’s if the state is divided.

Previous Experience with Small states??

Experience in the newly formed states tells us that while Jharkhand and Chattisgarh became FAILED states despite of large mineral and natural resources. This clearly shows us that just a separate state is NOT a solution for all the developmental lacunae.

-Insecurity among investors on their return of income.

-Wrosen the already bad Rural-Urban equivalence.

-Easier for surrounding states to cross over in devlopment. ForEg in recent times Andhra and Tamil Nadu were competing with each other to host a prestigious car factory. You think telangana..or divided andhra can alone fight and get thoese prestigious projects??

-Lack of sea transport for telangana ...major export and import of goods is done by ports in india so lack of own ports would increase the cost of exports and imports to telangana thereby increasing the average cost of goods.
