MGR is famous among masses too. It doesn't matter at all. His achievements as a Tamil icon are 'nil'. Nobody in their right mind, except illiterates and those who got freebies from him, idolise him. Are you comparing yourself, a financially endowed guy, with an illiterate lower caste, poor, and politically partisan Tamil?

This is the problem with Modi's upper castee supporters. Modi is supposed to enthuse lower caste people, bring them out of poverty. Instead its the upper caste who pretend like they are suppressed in India, and are waiting for a saviour.

And Planning Commission, for all its 'uselessness', collects important financial data that helps ministries plan budgets and programmes.

Your invoking their poverty limit 32rs is pointless. Because I was referring to data on non-plan money that is dispensed to 'poor' states from the center of which AP is a part, atleast as an undivided state.

No its not close to TN. More importantly, TN had lower literacy rate than AP, and improved by leaps and bounds, and beats AP now in every indicator you can think of, except agricultural output and number of bmws, and audis.

If you are interested, I can point to a link that puts TN at near 100% literacy among 6-25yrs(not sure about the upper age margin), whereas, AP is at 80%.

For such a rich state, with plenty of resources, its a shame.
