Balibabu Posted January 19, 2016 Author Report Posted January 19, 2016 India's former captain Sourav Ganguly feels that the current results in the ongoing One-Day International series against Australia is not surprising at all. Ganguly was taking in contention the last 5 year as a parameter while giving his views in an interview to India Today on television. Ganguly made it clear that he is not accepting the same old reason of being an inexperienced bowling attack, Umesh Yadav who first toured Australia in 2011, Ishant Sharma who visited in 2007, Ravichandran Ashwin who also came in 2011 along with Ravindra Jadeja have had 5 year or more years of experience on their side to not understand the conditions. Ganguly mentions it clearly that the problems needs to be identified and not just be blaming experience for all losses. Ganguly said that the team has to be picked based on overseas conditions and not domestic laurels. Jadeja who was a revelation in home season this year has managed to be just seen another ordinary bowler. Ashwin, who had had a great year in limited overs at home has so far in his 10 matches in Australia has bagged 3 wickets at an strike rate of 90. Ganguly went on to giving examples of players who performed well in overseas conditions and do well domestically seeing the trend that the selectors or management are giving changes to player who excel in domestic or known conditions. Ajinkya Rahane and Virat Kohli are two players whom Ganguly found to be more of a bench mark to be selected in the squad . Ganguly was also critical of the selectors who gave domestic feats more regards while choosing a team for an foreign tour. Ganguly refrained from putting the blame completely on MS Dhoni but did point out that it is the job of the captain to lead the way and show a direction in which the team is to move forward. Ganguly can down heavy on the selectors who picking Jadeja and Ashwin in the team as they have had no control what so ever in the middle overs apart from the third where they applied little pressure. Jadeja who picked 40 wickets in three matches for Saurashtra in Ranji Trophy had failed to show any progress on pitches which are flat.
