rajivn786 Posted April 18, 2017 Report Posted April 18, 2017 From Immivoice : Immigration Voice is very much aware of the upcoming Executive Order around high-skilled immigration and we are actively monitoring these developments. As the largest national non-profit organization representing high skilled immigrants in America we have long advocated for reforming of the H1-B and L-1 visa system. We will continue to engage with the four (4) agencies the President will instruct in this Executive Order to evaluate the current H1-B visa program and offer recommendations on enforcement. As always, our focus will be on sharing our inputs around fixes to the current system such that the system cannot be used to: 1. Displace or replace Americans with H1B and L-1 visa holders. 2. Immigrants are not exploited by employers and immigration lawyers. 3. Immigrants already living and working in the United States are not stuck in decades long wait for their green cards. Immigration Voice has long believed that the current H-1B and L-1 visa system is rigged such that it works great for bad employers, and certain special interest groups. The current system stifles American innovation and competitiveness while - creating an environment of discrimination against Americans along with the exploitation of immigrant workers in the marketplace. America's Immigration system should be about Americans and immigrants, the value and knowledge immigrants bring to the country. Unfortunately, special interest groups of bad employers and immigration lawyers have taken advantage of the loopholes in the H1-B and L-1 visa system and abused the program causing displacement of American workers and "indentured servitude" style exploitation of legal, tax-paying, high-skilled immigrants. We have been fairly open about our views on the state of the high-skilled immigration in the United States, most recently in this recent Washington Post piece ( https://www.washingtonpost.com/…/this-one-group-gets-70-pe…/ ) We welcome the steps Trump Administration is considering to reform the abusive H-1B and L-1 visa system. We are hopeful that the Trump administration will address the abuse in the system so the reformed system will work in the best interest of American workers, genuine companies/employers, and, tax-paying law abiding legal skilled immigrants.
