In years around 1990-97 time lo vachina uncles koncham chepandi vayya , how was the life/immigration/IT jobs /rates . For the  present generation pilla kayalaku.

Ps: don’t know much about US but my dad and uncle went to Germany in 89/90 just on a tourist visa. Lots of jobs are available that time for people who are willing to work hard (of course hard jobs, mostly Punjabi’s would lead/help fellow Indians to settle down or atleast guide them initially). language was a major concern but one would get Job easily. Indians ante only Punjabi’s and Kerala nurses at that time in Europe. They used to go officially to police station and renew their tourist visa /work permit with just an stamp in passport . Eventually when Berlin Wall was fallen , things became even more smother and after few years on work permit , eventually they got citizenship.i heard One can easily get laid with Europe girl That time, as brown skin was something rare to them.

I have 2 cousins that came here between 1995 to 2000.

Got GCs in 1 year. Jobs were plenty. Appati valla mestri earned around 200c and is living lavishly in Jubilee hills now..

Flip side since life was so easy they didn't have enough motivation to invest in India.. people who didn't save much or didn't start businesses have nothing to show now except for citizenship and teenage kids .

Even with doing only job would enable them to save atleast 2-3k per month kada, why do you say they don’t have anything to show ??

Can’t generalize but maybe culture emo?? Gujju’s are more money oriented/only care if it benefit them monetarily , whereas Punjabi’s have dildar mentality, you see them in large numbers in military also.
