a shepherd who wanted to become a king, could become one and the priests would confer him the title of kshatriya. doesn't mean there was a varna system that was practised or that it was fluid.  or that later brahmins rigidized this fluid structure.

if anything, its highly likely that it was other castes that rigidized this structure, because of their cowardice to question brahmins intellectually.

nenu vedas gurinchi em maatladatla. I just said that varna system was not fluid in the earlier era. It's most likely no one cared about any such systems and vedic gurus were considered as jokers by regular people.
