I want you to know this- EAD is you stayed for too long, there are chances of RFE's to establish you are still working with same/similar title. It is as much as on H1-B but just that non-employer dependent. RFE is not always true but I am just saying I have seen cases that I know, they are on EAD for 8+ years.

Ead is no different from H1, before GC issual they can ask you to show that you were continually employed in a same or similar occupation

There is no such rule. You can be unemployed for a few months. Only thing is you should be able to answer any rfes related to 485J
