I am in a similar situation, although I am thinking of retiring and living on my wife's health insurance. I don't plan to return to India since all my investments are liquid, in the stock market, bonds, 401k, IRA Roth accounts. I think I motivated my wife to keep working that I am planning to retire.

Assumptions...assumption....assumptions. This is the problem which keeps lot of families poor. SAvings matter....but investments matter a lot more. If you are single income, you have Zero reason to be in US unless you have very high income. What is your plan in the end? I am seeing lot of single salary people moving back as its no use being here living with such low savings. Wives can earn in India. Many IT people wives don't do jobs, not that educated but still outearn their husbands. Whats the used of keeping them caged here? How do you think they can take care of family if something happens to you here?

Anna, why do you keep posting threads about returning to India? Not everyone is fortunate enough to have a working spouse like you do. In your earlier posts, you mentioned that you’re not currently working and are spending time on stocks and other investments while your wife works. Most desi families rely on a single income and have to be very careful with their finances. It seems like you’ve already decided to return to India and are now looking for reassurance from other DB members.

They are invested in stagnant properties, or not being renovated, land available but not giving out for rent etc Instead of working in US, if they went back and readjusted their properties like selling those inside ORR and buying in growing areas or buying commercial spaces for cashflow, renovated with cash sitting in nri accounts to get more rents etc....they would make lot more money.
