Indigo, has partnered with institutes but do not have a facility of their own. This has helped to keep their costs low and build such a huge network but when they are huge, they need to invest in in-house capabilities than to depend on partners. This is the root cause. Indigo had a dream run in the last decade with almost no competition but after Air India privatization, Indigo started to expand beyond A320. They changed their strategy, business model and a 360 degree turn from wet leases, business class, Long haul deal with Qatar, Turkish and Now defunct Norwegian..but for training pilots, no new initiative and this was the root cause. I don’t think any other airline in earth of this size does not have inhouse pilot training. Air India has one of its own with a hundred aircrafts.
