When I graduated, my dream salary was 10000Rs and then when I came to US, starting salary was around 70k. You can buy acres of land in India with that money. There was no h1b lottery and lots of hope to get GC in 5-6 years. It took much longer though. There were no product companies in India during that time. Lot of students used to get scholarship as well for masters education and there were many cheap colleges. But for the kids coming now, what hope or advantage against India do they have? You can talk about faang salaries but if you are that good, you can get very good packages in India itself. So, why should the middle class come to US?
