The battery life is only 8-10 yrs currently and do u know that discarding battery is be classified as hazardous waste? Do u know its illegal to dump batteries of any sort in household trash? The cost of recycling batteries is currently expensive. To get cobalt and nickel out of those batteries, thy require a special chemical process.
