NEW DELHI: Congress is likely to secure a comfortable victory in Telangana, winning 68 out of the 119 seats in the state, the India Today-Axis My India exit poll has predicted.

According to the predictions, the ruling K Chandrashekar Rao-led BRS will not be able to secure a third straight term in the state, with its seat share reducing to just 39.

The BJP and AIMIM will clinch six seats apiece, the exit poll has predicted.

The Axis My India predictions are in line with most other exit polls, which have given a clear majority to the grand old party in Telangana.

If the predictions do hold true, it will be a huge shot in the arm for Congress after its victory in Karnataka in May this year.
