especially because the topic is about India vs US.. India is a shithole wrt free speech compared to the US. there's no contest.

US institutions have all the rights to sh1t on India wrt its democratic backsliding, because they sh1t on US govt too when it happens in the US.

If anything India is being given a free pass on kashmir, and the western media turns a blind eye to what the Indian govt is doing there. There should be more scrutiny on the Indian govt and its activities suppressing dissent in public life, not less.

India should be shamed internationally for continuing to elect a divisive figure as their PM.

you can set up your own social media server.. so easy these days with mastodon/pleroma and start posting your own sh1t. You won't be prosecuted for that in the US.. you will be, in India, if you are muslim and you touch some topics.
