Instead of a permanent conversion do a semi-transformation. Use either interlocking tiles to covert the floor or put a carpet on the floor. You can buy sofa or move your useones there. Put a TV or a projector. 

When you go to india or need to park your car inside, you can still do it with a little movement of furniture. 

Key is to have lightweight furniture there.
