Software like vpn etc to connect to home wifi from remote

Asking for someone who travels - and he connects to work laptop from hotel or star bucks etc or sometimes from kid day care center for a quick issue fix etc. 

he asked if there is a way he can always first connect to his house wifi from remote and connect to office network thru the home wifi so that he is sure he is connected thru a trusted source to office and also office n/w admin does not see many random internet connections thru the same user account

check your home router, run openVPN software on router.. now a days all routers have openvpn builtin....  tharvatha  port forward checksuo to specific IP of the machine...
