India trip and how many unlocked phones I can carry with me

dont know abt recent trends, but last yr and before aithe Hyd lo custom check baane unde...I know couple of my frnds/cousins were caught and questioned by them. They check the condition of these phones and they will ask us to turn it ON. Brand new laaga unna, if there is no content inside the phone like old pics etc, then they consider them to be brand new. So one phone aithe personal usage ani cheppochu...2 or more aithe prob for sure.

ppl I know had to pay customs duty fee....and u cant argue with them that I need multiple new phones for personal use....that is no longer valid reason.

In Hyd, focus is more on Gold. I carried am additional iphone unopened..no issues. 2 per person easy ga manage cheseyochu. Anni oke bag lo kakinda chuskondi. Should be fine. One in pocket, one in carryon.
