Tesla managers in the U.S. have been asked to vouch for the necessity of their employees, Bloomberg reports, citing anonymous sources. The move could presage layoffs at the EV-maker, as it cuts costs amid a lull in sales. The company is between “growth waves,” CEO Elon Musk said last month, referring to an expected lower-cost vehicle going into production next year. But it has continued to expand its workforce overall. Since 2016, Tesla has increased global staff by eight times, to 140,000.
