Legendary Lyrcist's irritation with SPB

Lyricists generally request the music directors to render their lyrics with the voice of the singer they like. Even music directors oblige that particular singer to sing a song for the sake of lyricist. One such singer is S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, who is requested by most lyricists to sing for their works during the 80s and 90s. But trends changed with the advent of AR Rahman and each song is sung by different couple and SPB lost his credit of singing entire album. Even during those good old times, one lyricist disliked SPB though it is not exposed to outsiders.

Veturi Sundararamamurthy, simply Veturi, is one such legendary lyricist who wrote songs in all types of genres for all the brilliant composers of Telugu film industry. However, it is found that Veturi never liked SPB singing his lyrics despite their public appearances as guru and sishya. The reason behind this is said to be the arrogant nature of SPB and his attitude of pin-pointing the lyrics and usage of words in the song. An insider revealed that even today, Balu is like that and always thinks of money and forces the music directors to pay him additional for any extra line he has sung. A famous music director ‘D’ stated that during olden days there is only Balu for male voice, now there are lots of talented youngsters that can do a better job and thanks to TV channels for exposing that talent to the industry.
