Urgent: How to Deal with Unexcused Absences: Planning a Trip to India

Recommended Posts

As we plan a trip to India in March, we are faced with the challenge of potential unexcused absences for our kids from school.

We have been informed by the school that such absences may result in letters from the school social worker.

How should we navigate this scenario? Should we be concerned about potential repercussions?

One option we are considering is unenrolling the kids from school and reenrolling them upon our return.

What would be the most effective approach to handle this situation?

Why dint u consider about this before planning india trip.

un-enrolling & re-enrolling is risky. How sure are u about getting the seats again?

Not needed afaik. If they have someone in waiting list, they can just give the spot to them

Schools only worry about the funds they miss .. They get funds based on no of kids and no of days they go to school. So best is to inform them that you have an emergency in india and have to go. They will give worksheets to kids and ask them to submit on timely basis. This ensures they get their funds ... We never had problems when our kids were younger and had to go on india trip.

Due to unavoidable personal circumstances we have to travel in March. Getting readmission is not a problem in our school district. We'd like to understand the consequences of unexcused absences if we don't un-enroll.
