I personally know 15 years loan unnavallu first kid college 2 nd year time ki complete chestharu lekka prakaram. But he got promotion/salary hike during Covid. And he may close it sooner. 

He does not have any burdens in India. 

ANd his house is like town home with good school rating he got it under 360K during initial covid days .

Salary hikes can happen, investments can multiply, savings if 2 people work 

if 2 people earn good income for 20 years, cant they easily afford a decent home and kid college?

That's true in the 90s and 2000s ..not anymore.. the current salaries doesn't even match 40% of the inflation. If they do multiple jobs that is another story. Not all can afford 2 3 IT jobs at the same time. This is what an average Joe assumption is..since we are making 300-400k with multiple jobs..all must be making somewhere close.. truth is majority of h1b folks are between layoffs and struggling to return to high paid jobs.

That is proper proportion..360k house is affordable with covid salaries..so for them American dream is possble.. for h1b folks who arrived in 2017 ..and going for 7k mortgage per month is like suicide.

But ala ani life antha rental lo undalem ga, you have to buy something eventually. If sfh is too much, atleast a townhome. 
home also has your family memories, there is no price to it

Also, don’t expect that your salaries will grow exponentially.

i think majority of the salaries will get capped around 200k unless you are in Bay Area or NYC.

Yes you have to buy eventually. 

Now there are 860000 homes in the market for sale..in 1993 there were 1.6 million new homes..30 years ago..

Inventory shortage is too high ..interests rates are high..sellers market now..

So you are purchasing a home double it's costs now..if construction resumes to normal pace..your home value drops to half and equity raadu
