This only applies if you didn’t accept the debt from the agency yet, say I don’t recognize and ask them to send a debt validation letter if they contact you. If they can’t send you one the debt is invalid

No but settle with them for cash amount like 1-200 otherwise tell them to get lost 

next time don’t repeat the mistake but pay 2500 out of 4k immediately and settle with hospital itself

technically collection ki pothe it is no longer a medical expense. however you can call the collection company and say i have money only in HSA ante they will go get an eligibility letter . you pay out of pocket, go to hsa and claim a reimbursement with this letter as backing. Letter vachaka you want to confirm with HSA that they are going to accept the letter for self reimbursement. 

PS : $4000 kosam collection daaka techukovadam very hind sighted. Personal credit is worth so much more. There are so many comments in the DB that say - let it go to collections which I find appalling. If you have less income work with the hospital billing department to negotiate for lesser income. Now you are past that option but keep in mind for future. If you are letting your credit go to drain atleast let it be worth the gain.

Google for how to deal with collection agencies. You will find Reddit threads. Tucha tappakunda vaalla guide follow ayipo. You will pay pennies and there won't be anything on your credit report.

Offer settlement, you might be able to get upto 40% off of lucky. 20% is standard unless the provider told to not give any discounts (say the bill amount is your deductible etc). 
 

Pay with your credit card and then get reimbursed from HSA account submitting the bills. Even if you go monthly option, you can do the same.

Collections isn’t a bad thing since you can negotiate and settle the bill.  Just need to settle before they report it to Credit Bureau.
