Naidu vows to bring back Telugu glory

Hyderabad, Nov 1: The Telugu Desam party chief, Mr Nara Chandrababu Naidu, on Monday assured that his party, which brought self-respect to the Telugu people at national level, would continue to strive for making the Telugu community one of the top in the world.

Mr Naidu paid floral tributes to Potti Sriramulu, who laid down his life for the formation of Andhra state, and “Telugu Talli” and hoisted the national flag at NTR Bhavan on the occasion of Andhra Pradesh State Formation Day.

Speaking on the occasion, the former chief minister said that Telugu people have made an indelible mark in various fields not only in the country but also in many parts of the world. He reminded that the TDP was born for the Telugu people and would always strive to enhance the glory of the community in the world.

Referring to the recent move by the State government to rename the Telugu Lalita Kala Toranam, which was constructed during NTR government, as Rajiv Gandhi Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam, Mr Naidu alleged that it was another example of the Congress government for bringing disgrace to Telugu people. The government’s action was resented by all the Telugu people.  The Congress history was replete with such instances, he regretted. He also pointed out that the people in the State, in a single voice, opposed the move of the government. Rajiv Gandhi had no link with the Telugu culture and community. Though the Congress MP, Mr T Subbarami Reddy withdrew from the project, the government has not yet released a GO withdrawing the move to change the name. The TDP would continue its agitation until the government tendered an apology and withdraw the move to change the name of Telugu Lalitha Kala Thoranam. He also accused the Congress party for constantly insulting the Telugu people in one form or the other.

The TDP supremo reminded that late N T Rama Rao, founder-president of TDP,  brought unique recognition to the Telugu people at national and international levels.

He pointed out that international airport, Biotechnology park, roads expansion, development of the parks taken up by earlier TDP government have changed the face of Hyderabad. He also alleged that the Congress government took the State backwards by 30 years with its irrational policies during the last six years. Regretting that no one was coming forward to invest in the State due to rampant corruption at all levels in the present government, Mr Naidu alleged that late Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had indulged in corrupt deals and amassed lakhs of crores of rupees in the guise of Jalayagnam and other irrigation projects.

The TDP leaders, Mr Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu, Mr K Vijayarama Rao, Mr Sidda Raghava Rao, Mr Aravind Kumar Goud, Mr Varla Ramaiah, Mr Tigala Krishna Reddy and others attended the programme.
