Sania Mirza to take on Owaisi in Hyderabad?

If speculations doing rounds in the Congress party circles are to be believed, ace tennis star Sania Mirza is likely to the party candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad parliamentary constituency.

The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee is learnt to have suggested the name of Sania Mirza for the Hyderabad LS seat in the wake of the Bharatiya Janata Party fielding a woman candidate Dr Madhavi Latha for the seat.

The Congress party high command is learnt to have given its nod for Sania’s candidature. Her name is reportedly coming up for finalisation at the Central Election Committee meeting of the Congress on Wednesday evening.

Though the party considered the candidature of former Indian cricket captain and PCC working president Mohd Azharuddin for the Hyderabad seat, it changed its decision after seeing the BJP fielding a woman candidate for the same.

Incidentally, Md Azharuddin is also closely related to Sania family. Her sister Anam Mirza is married to Azhar’s younger son Mohd Asaduddin.

Besides being the youth icon of Hyderabad, Sania Mirza has also been the brand ambassador of Telangana. She has a lot of craze among the Muslim youth in Hyderabad and after her divorce with Shoaib Malik, she gained a lot of sympathy as well.

The family members initially did not agree for the Congress party’s proposal to field Sania for the Hyderabad seat, but after the high command spoke to them, they agreed for the same, sources said.
