Velamas ,certain subsects of reddies were feudal castes from olden times i.e kakatiya period.they held most of the land bank in tg and andhra. velamas fell back after independence due to lack of population and political representation but reddies got into good terms with Britishers and later congress which helped them gain an upper hand .that's the reason first or second chief ministers of all states in Madras presidency were reddies which continued into present day age of democracy.
